Site launch!
Last week I finally got round to publishing this website for information and updates about Project’27, making the whole thing seem more real! The idea came when training for the South Downs Way 50, and listening to Nick Butter’s book about running the entire coast of mainland Britain. I’ve never done a multi-day ultra before, but have done a few single stage ultras. I also wasn’t a mum when I came up with the idea, so that’s added an extra layer of complexity to the logistics and training. However, having previously been told “running is your entire personality”, I’m determined not to lose that part of myself! So here I am, committing to the project and deciding to become (hopefully) one of those people who does the hard things.
My website is here for me to post updates on how the training, planning, and fundraising are coming along for the project. The whole thing will be to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity and Macmillan, in memory of my dad, who passed away in 2023 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma. He had an adventurous spirit, but sadly, like many of us, didn’t make enough time for the adventures before his time was up. So with that in mind, I want to make my adventure dream a reality, whilst raising funds for the charities to help families affected by brain tumours and cancer.
Planning is underway, and I’m on the hunt for people to help out with the project. It’s going to be a supported effort, so I’m looking for anything from advice, to support runners, to crew! If you want to get involved, please get in touch! I’d love to hear from you. Follow along for more updates on how the preparations are going 😊
